Release Blitz & Review: Prince of Lies by Lucy Lennox

BLURB

Rowe Prince is a lying liar who windmills into my life in full colour, claiming to be Sterling Chase, a quirky, eccentric billionaire… and founder of the company I created.

Two can play at the lying game, though, and I’m not about to let some burrito-delivering, floppy-haired virgin from Indiana best me at a game I was born to play.

So I do him one better and pretend to be Sterling Chase’s new assistant. I’ll teach him a lesson that will hopefully wind us both up in bed… with nothing but the truth between us.

But it turns out his shameless lies are enchanting… unintentionally hilarious… and make it all too easy to forget the truth…

Until I learn that this cutie’s intent is to defraud the company I’ve spent years building. I have to choose: risk the company or say goodbye to the man I’m falling for. A guy who just might be…

The Prince of Lies

Genre: MM Romance

Tropes: Billionaire/Mistaken Identity

Review

This was a sweet and amusing read.

Full of heart and humour what starts out as a ruse to get into a charity event so Rowe can talk to someone about his idea turns into a twisty, sweet, crazy, fun journey into love and having his dreams come true.

I really liked the two MC’s Rowe and Bash, you couldn’t get two people from such different backgrounds who essentially want the same thing; to make a difference to people’s lives.

I loved how Rowe dug himself deeper and deeper into his outrageous lies every time he opened his mouth and I loved Bash’s reaction to those outrageous comments, I swear I couldn’t stop grinning at times.

The guys behind Stirling Chase, a start-up company, have managed to remain anonymous since it’s inception, but when Rowe (fake Stirling Chase) brings his idea to the attention of the group, it opens a can of worms no one was expecting and none of what is uncovered is good and could be detrimental to the company and their anonymity. I liked how the guys handled things and how they did the right and moral thing despite any fallout that could have occurred.

Bash and his friends were right characters and I really hope we get to know them better in future books because they would make for some fun and interesting times if the interaction they have in Prince of Lies is any indication.

After enjoying creative writing as a child, Lucy didn’t write her first novel until she was over 40 years old. Her debut novel, Borrowing Blue, was published in the autumn of 2016. Lucy has an English Literature degree from Vanderbilt University, but that doesn’t hold a candle to the years and years of staying up all night reading tantalizing novels on her own. She has three children, plays tennis, and hates folding laundry. While her husband is no shmoopy romance hero, he is very good at math, cooks a mean lasagne, has gorgeous eyes, looks hot in his business clothes, and makes her laugh every single day. She writes gay romance with heart, humour, and heat!

Blog Tour: Review & Giveaway: The Husband Hoax by Saxon James

THE HUSBAND HOAXAccidental Love #1 by Saxon James

Synopsis

Christian

Being invited to my cousin’s wedding really shouldn’t be such a big deal except, oh yeah, I haven’t seen my family for a decade.

My parents turned their backs on me and I’ve done everything since to become successful and show them what they lost. Only, it’s kinda hard to be a success when you’re a walking trainwreck.

So I’m going to fake it. Hire a guy with an online presence so impressive they’ll be desperate to welcome me back into the elitist fold, and roll into the wedding with the kind of confidence I’ve never felt a day in my life.

The plan’s a knockout.

Until my fake date cancels minutes before the ceremony.

Émile

One letter from my dearly departed grandfather, and suddenly I’m on a husband hunt.

He’s reworked his entire will so I’m set to inherit far more than I’m entitled to, and all because he’s asked me to use that money for “good”.

In order to get that inheritance, though, there’s one stipulation: marriage.

Even with his request, I’m tempted to stick to my original plan of getting as far from my wretched family as possible, and letting them fight it out.

But then I run into a tall drink of scattered mess outside of a wedding who’s in desperate need of a date, and the pieces click into place.

I help him, he helps me.

Marriage, money, then go our separate ways.

Easy.

Now all I have to do is stop myself from actually falling for the guy.

Review

I absolutely enjoyed The Husband Hoax so much, I read ’til god knows what time because I didn’t want to put it down.

Emile and Christian were both characters I instantly fell in love with and I loved the way from the first meeting they just seemed to click.

They both have pretty horrible families, with only one or two family members who are worth keeping around. Emile’s family, especially his grandmother, are the worst kind of snobs and the way they behaved towards Christian was unforgivable.

I loved how they are both all in helping and supporting each other even when things are supposed to be ‘fake’, and that they fall in love without even realising it right from the start. There is plenty of humour and heart in this story, with a few misunderstandings or lack of communication thrown in, but it is low angst and has a wonderful HEA.

Christian’s ‘found family’, his five roommates and Aunt Agatha their neighbour, were the best kind of family and Emile’s sister Elle was great too. I’m looking forward to seeing who amongst them gets their Accidental Love story next.

Blog Tour: Review & Giveaway: Back to Center by Ryan Taylor and Joshua Harwood

BACK TO CENTER: Mohegan U Hockey #2

by Ryan Taylor & Joshua Harwood

Synopsis

Eckie

There are ways to get ahead in college hockey, but having a meltdown, trying to get rid of your coach, and stalking his boyfriend isn’t one of them. Is it really a surprise that I wound up in a hospital facing my demons instead of getting ready to play for the pros and taking care of my baby? I needed the world’s biggest redo, but the probability of a second chance was about the same as…

Jack Rogan walking through the door. But there he was! Jack was one of my coaches, and I was pretty sure he was straight. His easy laugh and sympathetic ear put a smile on my face. He made me believe I could turn my life around. But as much as I liked him, I knew I had to put my fantasies aside. With obligations to meet and amends to make, I didn’t have time to obsess about a guy who was out of my reach.

So why did I say yes when he offered me a place to stay while I got on my feet?

Jack

I was done with relationships. A fractured heart had made sure my walls were high, and my shields were strong. There wasn’t a man I couldn’t resist—until Eckie.

After driving everyone away in an avalanche of self-destruction, he was getting much needed help, and I wondered if I should go see him. A single visit turned into the best part of every day, and I was hooked. When I was with Eckie, the world made sense again. There were only two years separating us, but since I was one of his coaches, spending time together was dangerous. If we kept it up, who knew what I might do?

Maybe something brilliant, like asking him to stay with me when he left the hospital. I knew it was risky, and I told myself I was only being a friend. But the truth was, I liked feeling things again.

Eckie was seeking redemption; Jack was trying to do the right thing. Neither planned on anything beyond friendship. Will following their hearts leave them worse than before, or will they find what they’ve needed all along?

Back to Center is a story of redemption and the unexpected love a man finds in a friend he never knew he’d have. It also includes exciting hockey, a coach/player dynamic, great communication, unquenchable longing giving way to irrepressible heat, an adorable baby, and a perfect HEA.

Content warnings for depression and physical/emotional abuse by parents. The abuse happened in the past, but knowing about it may be difficult for some.

Review

I am so glad Eckie got to have his redemption story after the way his story arc went in Cracks in the Ice. He was definitely the ‘bad guy’ towards his coach Benny and his ex Cole as well as his team members, and his behaviour became more and more erratic and out of control.

I liked seeing him get the help he needed and that the assistant coach Jack had decided to be a friend for him when he really needed one. Finding out more about Eckie’s background, especially his relationship with his parents, put a very different spin on his behaviour and his mental health and I felt a lot of empathy towards him.

I enjoyed seeing the friendship between Eckie and Jack grow into something more and loved that Jack was able to see something worthwhile in Eckie and convey what he saw to him until he believed it. I think that without Jack’s support and encouragement, Eckie wouldn’t have been able to be as strong as he was and make all the positive changes he needed to make in order to regain his scholarship and his place on the team.

I loved seeing how he was with his son, and I liked that his ex-wife was able to see what a good father he was and didn’t keep him from seeing him as so many mothers tend to do when a relationship breaks down.

While Eckie had to prove himself to everyone and some of his teammates were less supportive than others at the start, it was good to see how far he came and how seriously he wanted to make those changes.

I found the incident involving his parents and cousin’s a bit over-the-top, but I realise that there are crazy zealots out there who will go to any lengths to get what they want, and in America it seems even more so. My heart was stuck in my throat at times while this was going on.

I really loved Jack and Eckie as a couple and I’m sure we’ll see more snippets of them in future books.

Blog Tour: Review & Giveaway: Can’t Say Goodbye by Eden Finley

Synopsis

BRADY

Our quick hellos are followed by drawn out goodbyes.

What started out as one fun night turned into a regular thing none of us ever planned for.

I can’t walk away from Kit and Prescott. Kit is the stern nurturer I need. He’s the caretaker, the solid presence. Prescott enables my wild ways. He’s someone I can have fun with. They couldn’t be more perfect for me.

But come graduation, I have to move across the country, and geography isn’t our only obstacle. Being in a relationship with two men isn’t good for my public image, my brother’s NFL career, or the media frenzy that surrounds my famously queer family.

We have a plan to meet up once a year, but with every reunion, every brief visit, we fall deeper.

There has to be a breaking point, something that will end it for us, or soon it will be impossible to say goodbye at all.

Review

I love a good MMM story if it is done right and for me, Eden Finley managed to do that really well with Can’t Say Goodbye. I loved all three men, Prescott, Brady and Kit and I was completely engaged in their story to the point I don’t think I slept much the night I read it.

Kit and Prescott already had a connection and had brought a third into their friendship to share in bed, but adding Brady to this equation changed everything for them and forced them to admit they felt much more for each other than just friendship. The bedroom scenes are very steamy and I loved the bond they developed over time and that each of them was emotionally and physically happy in what they shared.

I liked that I got each man’s point of view, it really allowed me to get to know each of them and I was emotionally involved in everything they were going through as they go from just hooking up semi-regularly, then yearly after Brady graduated and moved, to realising that they are each wanting something much more permanent and meaningful. It wasn’t always an easy ride as each dealt with their feelings for the other two and their worry they wouldn’t feel the same or that there is no way it could work out, but with communication and a desire to make it work they found a way.

I really loved Can’t Say Goodbye and will be reading it again I’m sure.

For a sudden fake fiancé, I could very, very easily be interested in him. My gaze trails over his long limbs, his tight stomach, those cum gutters that are going to be my undoing, before Émile lifts my chin with two fingers. “I’m going to have to ask you to stop looking at me like that.”

“Right.” I clear my throat. “Inappropriate.”

“Not at all. But if I’m going to follow your rules and keep my distance, you really shouldn’t be eye-fucking me.”

My laugh is louder than I expected, and I cut it off quickly. “Sorry. I have a hot naked guy in my bed. Checking you out is my default.”

“Well, take a last look.” He stands up, glances at his suit on the side of my bed, then tugs on the sweats I loaned him for the walk from the bathroom to my room last night … right before I promptly stripped him out of them again. They hang loose around his waist, and my gaze stays with him as he crosses my room to steal a T-shirt out of one of my drawers.

“Sure. Help yourself.” I grin.

“You’re my fiancé now. It’d be basically illegal if I didn’t wear your clothes.”

Fiancé. Damn. That’s … scary. Getting engaged wasn’t supposed to hit my to-do list for the next decade at least and here I am getting hitched to a guy I haven’t even known for twenty-four hours.

Sympathy crosses his face and Émile approaches to run his fingers through my hair. “Look, you’re getting into a lot without much knowledge, so this is what we’re going to do. I’m going to put my number in your phone and leave. Once I’m gone, you’re going to search my name and look me up on social media. Look into who my family is, recent marriage and engagement announcements—because yes, we’re going to have to do those things too. It’s going to be a lot of attention, and I want to make sure you’re ready for it.”

“Wait … are you like, famous or something?” I numbly unlock my phone as he hands it over, then he takes it from me and punches his number in.

“Or something. You good?”

I stare at where his name is lit up on my screen. “Yeah. I think so.”

“Good.” He brushes a long, lingering kiss across my mouth. “And if you decide you want to back out, I’ll be right over to screw you silly.”

Goddamn, I almost blow this whole thing off here and now. “You don’t fight fair, you know that?”

“Just wanted to make sure there was no confusion.”

He picks up his letter and his clothes and I watch him all the way to the door, reveling in last night and this morning and wondering what the fuck I’ve gotten myself into. His hair is still a mess from my pillows, my skin is still tight with his dried cum, my room coated in the smell of sex, and I’m aching to pull him back down under me until I know what every inch of his skin tastes like.

Émile opens my bedroom door and pauses. “Huh. Christian? There’s a naked man in your hall.”

I groan. “Jesus, Madden. You know you’re supposed to wear clothes when we have guests!”

He steps into view, hands raised like a busted perp. “In my defense, we were pretty sure he snuck out this morning. Like, it’s almost eleven, dude.” Madden eyes Émile. “Since when do hookups stay that long?”

Ah, crap. What do I say here? Boyfriend? Fiancé? Fellow con artist?

Émile blows me a kiss. “At least next time I’m here I’ll know that clothing is optional.”

“Next time?” Madden echoes as Émile disappears down the hall. My roommate turns his gaze on me. “There’s a story here, isn’t there? Should I get the others? Popcorn? Pizza? Or is this a rum situation?”

Might as well get it over and done with. “Let me shower and I’ll meet you all downstairs.”

“So is that a yes or no on the rum?”

“It’s still morning.

He raises his hands, lifting each in turn, like scales.

“It’s a no.”

“Gotcha.”

It’s going to be a long day.

The guys aren’t known for being patient though so I grab a towel and some clothes and shower as quickly as I can. The last thing I need is them gathering in the bathroom because I’m taking too long. Again.

Book Release Tour: Review , Excerpt & Giveaway: Winter Dreams by Marie Sexton

22-168 Marie Sexton Winter Dreams

Winter Magic, Book 2

What happens when a player gets played?

Actor Dylan Frasier is known as one of the biggest playboys in Hollywood, infamous for seducing men and women alike. He’s also half in love with his two best friends. Unfortunately, Jason and Ben are madly in love with each other, leaving Dylan the odd man out. When Ben suggests an extended Christmas vacation at a resort modeled after his favorite 80s TV show, Dylan reluctantly agrees. Sure, his heart breaks a bit every time he sees them together, but it’s a vacation in the Bahamas. How bad can it be?

At first, the resort seems like any other. Dylan plans to work on his tan, get laid, and hunt for Hollywood’s most in-demand director – not necessarily in that order. Then he meets Connor, a tennis instructor still hurting from a bad breakup. Connor knows Dylan’s reputation and refuses to be seduced. Dylan sees Connor as just another conquest, but this tropical island isn’t as mundane as it appears. It has its own kind of magic, and it’s about to make things interesting.

Review

I recently read book #1 Winter Oranges and I loved it, I was keen to see Dylan find his HEA in Winter Dreams and the story Marie Sexton weaved didn’t disappoint.

Set on a resort island modelled on Fantasy Island the 80s TV show, there is again a touch of fantasy wound in Dylan and Connor finding each other and getting their happy ending. It isn’t all smooth sailing, with the island invading their dreams and both having their doubts that it could mean more than at most a fling, but as playboy Dylan sets out to woo Connor, the game plan changes and new dreams are put in motion.

I adored Ben, one of the main characters from Winter Oranges who was trapped in a snow globe for over a hundred years, he is so sweet and adorable and his enthusiasm for everything shines through. He also shows what a good friend he has become to Dylan and how much support he has to give him, he also shows how much he truly sees Dylan underneath the mask he puts on for the world. Jason, Dylan’s best friend I was disappointed in, he had such low expectations of his friend and I was disappointed in his lack of support and continual disbelief he could be more than just a playboy.

Dylan definitely does a lot of growing once he meets Connor, he starts off as a selfish playboy who has a reputation, but through his meeting Connor and getting to know him, he really does grow into a nicer and stronger person. Both Dylan and Connor have things from the past that taint their outlook on love, but Dylan’s was a traumatic past that has echoed through his whole life, I really felt for him when he started to open up and tell Connor what had happened, and was pleased he was able to see he needed help. I loved the connection Dylan and Connor formed, and if Connor hadn’t insisted on taking things slowly, this probably wouldn’t have happened. It really did form a good foundation for their relationship.

I adored this couple.

Excerpt

They say insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. It must be true. God knows it could only be insanity that made me agree to this vacation. Why else would I spend the next thirty-one days with Jason and Ben knowing it’ll result in nothing but heartache? I love them both so much it hurts. Watching them together is like feeling my heart slowly shatter over and over again, and yet I can’t stand to stay away from them either.

So here I am, on an airplane with them two days after Thanksgiving, bound for a tropical resort, Christmas be damned. We’d debated flying first class, but we were already spending a fair amount on this month-long vacation, so we settled for business class instead. Still not enough legroom for my six-foot-one body, but the drinks are free, so I’m not complaining.

“I’m so excited,” Ben says. “Can you believe we’re actually going to Fantasy Island?” He’s sitting between Jason and I on the airplane, having volunteered for the middle seat. Even now, almost two years after his miraculous appearance in Jason’s life, Ben comes across all innocence and bright-eyed enthusiasm. He’d sent off for a paper brochure from the resort because he said reading it on his phone was “dumb.” Watching him flip through it, I wonder if he’ll ever become as jaded as the rest of us.

I hope not.

Jason Walker is a child star turned teen heartthrob turned reluctant B-movie regular who’s sick of his failing career. So he gives up Hollywood for northern Idaho, far away from the press, the drama of LA, and the best friend he’s secretly been in love with for years.

There’s only one problem with his new life: a strange young man only he can see is haunting his guesthouse. Except Benjamin Ward isn’t a ghost. He’s a man caught out of time, trapped since the Civil War in a magical prison where he can only watch the lives of those around him. He’s also sweet, funny, and cute as hell, with an affinity for cheesy ’80s TV shows. And he’s thrilled to finally have someone to talk to.

But Jason quickly discovers that spending all his time with a man nobody else can see or hear isn’t without its problems—especially when the tabloids find him again and make him front-page news. The local sheriff thinks he’s on drugs, and his best friend thinks he’s crazy. But Jason knows he hasn’t lost his mind. Too bad he can’t say the same thing about his heart.

Review

I really enjoyed this, it was just the kind of light fun read I didn’t know I needed.

I did worry when in the first few pages Leon’s a**hole partner breaks up with him and is just awful, this scene caused me a bit of anxiety for what I might expect for the rest of the book. Luckily, this scene didn’t set the tone of the rest of the story, instead, it is full of fun and heart when Damon, a guy he had a fling with years before finds himself drawn into the out-there situations Leon keeps pulling him into in his goal to find love.

Leon was sweet, if not oblivious to the signals Damon was giving him, he also did everything he could to avoid conflict, hence how he found himself in the out-there situations. Damon may have messed up in the past, but when faced with the opportunity of getting a second chance with Leon, he grabs it with both hands, it doesn’t stop him from being cheeky with Leon, but he is also supportive and sweet towards him too. Leon and Damon were so good for each other, I wondered how long it would take Leon to realise what was in front of his eyes.

This was an entertaining read which left me with the feel-goods at the end.

Plenty of fish in the sea.

But what if there is no “plenty”? What if Leon Finn is a lone fish? A lone fish in a glass bowl swimming in hopeful but ultimately lonely circles forever?

Dumped and forced to retreat to his tiny-town seaside bach, it’s time for Leon to cast some lines, and quick! Prove to everyone—(*cough*) ex, mother, other ex who he’s now accidentally living with—that he’s a catch.

Only no one is biting.

It sucks, but it’s solvable.

With his trusty sewing machine and endless stash of fabric he’ll make himself into the ultimate suitor. Stitch this right up.

But as a certain someone keeps whispering in his ear, is this the right way?

Pier Pressure is a light-hearted, cheeky M/M romance with silly seaside shenanigans culminating in happily ever after. It can be read as a standalone.

I crouch and stare at it. “Hello.”

It wriggles its tail and swims away. A fish here means someone’s been coming regularly, to change the water and feed it. “Who’s looking after you, hmm?” My cousin Troy lives nearby, he’d be the type to buy a goldfish for his kid without asking his wife first. I can imagine him schlepping it here and regretting his stupidity every time he came by to keep it alive.

It’s stupid, but I’m ridiculously glad I’m not completely alone. Karl and I might not have had sex in six months, but he’d always shared my bed. I was used to someone being in the same room, in the same space, closest to the door. There was something comforting in it. Like, if we got murdered, they’d have to go through him first.

Wind howls around the bach, rattling the windows and whistling down the chimney. There’s the creak of a door on its hinges, and bloody hell. The bach never seemed this freaky in summer . . .

I raid my suitcase and yank on the kiddiest pyjamas I own, my fluffy ducky ones. Maybe if I look innocent enough, a murderer might think twice before offing me, giving me crucial time to—yep, that hearth shovel was coming to bed with me. And . . . and the fish. I couldn’t leave it all alone out here. The killer might . . .

Carefully, I lift the bowl, tuck it to my chest and take refuge in my room.”

I wake up to a shadow looming over me.

I scream and throw blankets into the darkened face. The shovel! Where is it? I plunge an arm down the side of my bed, between the mattress and the wall, and grope for the weapon. Nothing. And meanwhile I’m left in a frighteningly exposed, arse-up position. I forget the shovel and throw myself onto my back, hands balled at the ready.

Before me the figure is muttering something that gets lost under a thick layer of feather-down. A large hand with a vein running down the middle reaches around the duvet and with a whoosh, my cover is yanked off.

Instead of hauling arse out the window with Fishy, I’m asking the intruder to please at once remove himself from my bed chamber. Apparently, I turn into Darcy in panic—“Damon?”

Laughter. As heavy as the ocean, as warm as the dawn spilling into my room. “Well hello, Leon.”

Blog Tour, Review, Excerpt & Giveaway: When The Walls Come DownBy Harper Robson

When the Walls Come Down Cover

Hot Dam Homes, Book 2

Dylan

“Quirky.” Ugh, I hate that word. The PC term these days is ‘neuro-divergent’, but I prefer to be called autistic. It’s often a huge advantage to have a brain that works differently, but I sometimes wish it was easier to connect with other people. The things that make me different can make people want to keep their distance, and for a long time I’ve built walls around myself so no one wants to even try breaking through. Helping the sexy ER doctor renovate his house, I discover someone who wants to get closer instead of running away. I think Reed likes me because I’m a little different, not in spite of it. But the gorgeous doctor has a lot of baggage, and I worry that if he sees the parts of me I work so hard to keep under control, he’s going to turn tail and run.

Reed

I’ve overcome a lot to get to where I am as a doctor, including parents who loved their bigoted, homophobic church more than their child and an opioid addiction following years of self-loathing. I love my team in the ER, but in my personal life I prefer to fly solo. I’m comfortable behind the carefully built walls that no one, not even my best friend, gets through.

The old fixer-upper in a great neighborhood was supposed to be a side project, but I discovered pretty quickly that home renovations are not as easy as they look on TV. But when one of the sexiest men I’ve ever seen, who happens to be a contractor, shows up in my ER, he feels like the solution to all my problems. What I never expected was that while he was rebuilding my house, Dylan Campbell would be the first person who makes me want to take my walls down.

When The Walls Come Down is a steamy hurt/comfort MM Romance. It features an autistic home renovation expert, and a doctor scarred by a traumatic childhood. Two people who’ve always been outsiders figuring out how to let each other in.

Review

I really enjoyed When the Walls Come Down, it is my first read by Harper Robson and I’ll be returning to read book 1 of Hot Dam Houses very soon.

I appreciated the author giving us a neurodiverse main character, I work with people with autism and while many of the clients I work with are not high functioning, I do have a couple who are. It is nice to see that they could pick up a book and recognise bits of themselves in the main character.

I really enjoyed getting to know both Dylan and Reed, they were great characters, both with their own baggage they carried and both believing they would never find someone who would accept them for who they were.

I liked that Dylan owned his autism and for the most part communicated well with Reed about what he needed. And I liked how supportive Reed was of Dylan, I’m not sure there are many people out there who would be as easily accepting and supportive in the real world, but it is nice to hope there are.

There were some amusing moments and some moments that pulled at my emotions a bit, the story flowed well and I loved seeing them as a couple.

Thanks to GRR for providing me with a digital copy in return for an honest review.

This is an emergency though. I’m no good with social cues, but Grace sounded so jittery that even I can tell she’s freaking out.

I make it to Grace and her husband’s cute little house in record time, leaving the truck running while I rush inside. I find her in the living room, her coat half-on, wearing one boot with the other one clutched in her hand as she white-knuckles the back of her couch with the other, panting her way through what I assume is a contraction. I have no idea how I’m supposed to react, and touch isn’t something I’m super comfortable with, but I go to her, reaching out to gently rub her back.

Before she can say a word, she squeezes her eyes closed and whimpers.

“Dyl, we gotta get to the hospital. I don’t wanna have this baby in the damn car!“ She’s clearly panicking, and never in my life have I seen my sister so undone.

“It’s okay,” I say, even though I have no idea if it’s okay or not. “We’ll make it. Can you walk to the truck?”

She nods weakly, pointing to an overnight bag. “Can you grab my bag? I’m gonna need you to help me walk.”

I grab her stuff and help her out to the truck. She’s hit by another contraction, and the whimpering sounds she’s making are worse than if she was screaming at the top of her lungs.

“It’s okay, we’ll be okay,” I say, talking as much to myself as to her.

Screeching to a halt in front of the ER a few minutes later, I jump out of the truck and go tearing through the glass doors. Grace seems to be getting quieter, which is not helping my nerves.

“I need some help. There’s someone having a baby outside,” I shout as the automatic doors whoosh shut behind me.

A few nurses glance over, but no one seems to be jumping into action like I would expect.

“Please, can someone help me? There’s a baby literally being born in my truck!”

I melt into his touch, savoring a moment I thought would never come. I’d always wondered what kissing Law would feel like, and now I’m getting a taste of it. It’s sweet and eggnoggy and so very Lawson.

I’m in the best kind of shock about it, while reminding my future self to always let Lawson be in charge of the alcoholic contribution to all my eggnogs from here on out.

The kiss deepens, and slowly, I emerge out of the haze I’ve fallen into. What we’re doing hits me smack bang in the chest. But instead of freaking out, or wanting to put a stop to it, the voice inside me whispers three little words.

Go for it.

So I do. This could be the one and only time in my life I ever get to be like this with Lawson, so I intend on making the most of it.

I charge my fingers through Lawson’s silky-soft black hair. I meet the movement of his tongue with my own, but I take it up a notch. Or eight. Going slow like we have been up until this point is fine and dandy, but I really want to kiss the life out of him.

All the years of pent-up frustration and secretly pining for my best friend I’ve been carrying around find an outlet as my tongue tangles with his. Delicious sounds spill out from the sides of his mouth, like he’s surprised in the best way possible at this sudden escalation surging out of me.

I capture his face in my hands, fully taking over now. I don’t know what’s come over me, but I need this. Our tongues are dueling, my body is on fire. Every nerve ending I have is singed with pleasure I didn’t think was possible to get just from kissing.

I hope Law’s feeling the same way I am because if I can make him feel even half as good as how he’s making me feel right now, he’ll remember this kiss for the rest of his life, too.

There’s nothing but moaning and heavy breathing and sounds of the springs of our old couch creaking filling the air around us. I lose track of time, consumed by something so ravenous and deep that the intensity catches me completely off-guard.

Eventually, Lawson pulls back. I’m met with two half-hooded eyes dripping with nothing but desire and want.

For me.

It’s the hottest I’ve ever seen Lawson look.

I gently caress his puffed-out, just-been-kissed lips with my fingertips, before peppering his jaw and neck with a series of smaller kisses, nibbles, and licks. He smells so good, and he tastes even better.

I reach around to pull his hand from my neck. With our eyes locked on each other, I give his fingers three tiny presses. His eyes twinkle in recognition as he squeezes back four times.

Holy heck. I just kissed my best friend, and I think we both liked it.

Blog Tour: Review & Giveaway: Shameless Puckboy by Eden Finley & Saxon James

SHAMELESS PUCKBOY Puckboys – Book Three

by Eden Finley & Saxon James

Review

Shameless Puckboy was another enjoyable read in the Puckboys series.

I can’t say I was a big fan of Oskar to start with, though he did give me a few laughs with his pouty childishness at times. I liked Lane straight up, but can’t imagine any PR guy going to the lengths he did to stop Oskar from being cut from the team for his behaviour. But since this is fiction, I enjoyed seeing how far he did go and how they both tried to outdo each other in their opposite goals.

There was some serious chemistry between them and while Lane knew it wasn’t a good idea to pursue anything if he wanted to keep his job and his reputation, it seemed Oskar’s charms were too much to resist.

Like many characters, Oskar had underlying issues and a hidden personality that once he allowed Lane and others to see showed just what a nice guy he was and could be if he had the right inclination and support to do so.

I really enjoyed his group of friends who I’d met in previous books by these authors, and loved how they were so supportive of him and let him know he was part of their family and they wanted to know the ‘real’ him.

I’m a sucker for a HEA and enjoyed Lane and Oskar’s, I liked that Lane came out of the whole incident with Oskar with a better deal than he could have imagined and that they both proved how much they loved each other.

Synopsis

OSKAR

After a little mishap in an alleyway with CCTV, my public image needs fixing. Oops?
It might have been a stunt to get the attention of Lane Pierce, San Jose’s new PR manager, but I didn’t realize what the consequences would be when I did it. I’ve got Lane’s sole focus now in all the wrong ways.
He has designated himself as my babysitter, and while it’s fun messing with him, being bound by curfews and rules has never worked for me.
The more I push back, the more I realize what’s really on the line. My career, my future, and maybe even my heart.

LANE

Being appointed head of San Jose’s PR department was a dream come true … until I met Oskar Voyjik.
He may be San Jose royalty, but with the stunts Oskar’s been pulling, the team owner is down to his last thread of patience. Which puts me in the firing line. If I can’t turn Oskar’s entitled party boy image around, we’ll both be shown the door.
I have free rein to do whatever it takes, and it turns out whatever it takes is Oskar.
Only, the more entangled our lives become, the more I see the Oskar he’s buried deep down. The one who hurts, the one who’s sensitive and kind, the one … the one I think I’m falling for.
I can’t have him and my career, and if rumors of the professional lines I’ve crossed get out, it’s not only my dream job I can kiss goodbye; I’ll be disgraced from professional sports completely.
