Review
I adored Griff and Heath; best friends to lovers is one of my favourite tropes and this 25-year friendship is such a beautiful relationship and when they both start feeling non-platonic feelings for each other, it only gets better.
Griff has finally separated from his wife Poppy after putting it off for a year so as not to upset their son Felix. I didn’t really like Poppy and I was glad Griff was finally getting his freedom from her. It’s a big thing though starting anew and Griff has big ideas on how he’s going to get back into the dating life, but when push comes to shove, he’s plagued with self-doubt and feeling pretty unsure about everything. Enter his friends… There was plenty of humour as his friends from the Divorced Men’s Club offered him advice and support, but the best support was from Heath. You couldn’t ask for a better friend than Griff has in Heath and vice versa.
I really loved all the interactions between Griff and Heath, there were many humorous moments alongside some more serious ones, and some very sexy ones, during every interaction you could feel their connection. I really enjoyed watching these two navigate their surprising change in feelings towards each other and I was cheering them on the whole time.
They have a few obstacles to overcome to get their happy ending, but this was a low-angst read that had me smiling the whole way through.
I’m looking forward to reading more in this series.
Synopsis
Griff
Walking away from my marriage was my idea of a fresh start.
My kid is in college, my ex-wife and I are on good terms … but being single in my forties is a world different to being single in my teens.
But my best friend, Heath, has my back like he always does and is ready to take me out and show me how the bachelor life is done.
He was never supposed to show me literally.
After we wake up in bed together, I can’t stop looking at him differently, and one thing becomes abundantly clear.
I talk a big talk about us only being friends, but my platonic rulebook has gone out the window.
Heath
When my best friend comes to me for help post-divorce, I’m only too happy to impart wisdom on him.
After all, Griffin isn’t my type, but even I can tell he’s a complete lumbersnack. Good with his hands, kind eyes, and a killer smile. All the guys and gals are gonna eat him alive.
But the more time we spend together, the less “not my type” he becomes. I’m the one who can’t get enough of him.
Neither of us are interested in a relationship, so what’s a little fun between friends?
