New Release Book Review: Code Blue by N.R Walker

Wow, I didn’t want to put this novel down. Following on from Code Red, this book focuses on band member Jeremy and Atrous’ head of security Steve. The story is told from Steve’s perspective and what a story it is. I really enjoyed Code Red, but I enjoyed Code Blue even more. And the fact it’s over 400 pages is just awesome, I do enjoy a long book I can really sink my teeth into.

Steve is gay but has kept this undercover, he’s had a thing for Jeremy for a while, but Jeremy is straight and why would he look at Steve, except he does and Jeremy is confused and angry about what he is feeling and he takes it out on Steve for a while as well as some self-destructive behaviour, as he tries to work through what is going on. Oh, I did love these two, they worked so well together, I loved Jeremy to bits and Steve was my hero.

On top of this emotional confusion surrounding his feelings and attraction towards Steve, he has a medical issue that could change everything and a management team who are less than impressive, Atrous and the security team is dealing with a crazy-ass stalker who has them all under a lot of pressure, but especially Jeremy because they are especially fixated on him. Steve takes on personal security for Jeremy and in this forced proximity, things between them come to a head.

Steve is hiding things from his past, traumas that just might have a bearing on their future. There is so much going on in this novel that it needed 400+ pages in order to tell it all. There isn’t a moment where I got bored, it rolled smoothly from one scene to the next.

I really did love this book and definitely recommend it along with Code Red, this duology is one of my favourites.

Thanks to N.R Walker for a digital copy in return for an honest review.

Blurb for CODE BLUE

Steve Frost had dreams of wearing the national championship belt in mixed martial arts, maybe even going pro, but instead, finds himself working as a security guard for the rich and famous in LA.

Quickly earning a reputation for his blunt and precise people management skills, he lands a position on the security team for an up-and-coming boyband, Atrous. Years later, he’s head of security. He knows these boys, and with countless tours, flights, car trips, public events, concerts, he’s closer to one band member in particular.

Jeremy’s been a pillar for Atrous since day one, but even more so these last few months. Now the face of the band more than ever, he’s also got himself the attention of a delusional stalker-fan.

When the fame and stress become too much, when Jeremy’s health takes a hit, Steve becomes Jeremy’s lifeline. But as Jeremy knows already, and as Steve is about to learn, not even the brightest star can shine forever.

N.R. Walker Bio

N.R. Walker is an Australian author, who loves her genre of gay romance. She loves writing and spends far too much time doing it, but wouldn’t have it any other way.

She is many things: a mother, a wife, a sister, a writer. She has pretty, pretty boys who live in her head, who don’t let her sleep at night unless she gives them life with words.

She likes it when they do dirty, dirty things… but likes it even more when they fall in love.

She used to think having people in her head talking to her was weird, until one day she happened across other writers who told her it was normal.

She’s been writing ever since…
