Blog Tour: New Release Book Review: Wicked Heat by Ella Frank

“He’s grumpy, rude, and honestly, not that likeable at all. So why can’t I stop thinking about him?”

Wicked Heat, an all-new high heat and slow-burn mm romance, and the first book in the Chicago Heat Series from USA Today bestselling author Ella Frank is live now!

REVIEW

Wicked Heat is book 1 of 2 about MCs Ryan and Jameson in a 4 book series. Wicked heat is a spin-off series from a couple of Ella Frank’s other series, I’ve met several of the characters before and now want to go back and meet the ones in the books I’ve missed.

Ryan, a sunshiney, outwardly outgoing PA for Prime-time news anchor Alexander (from the Prime TIme series), is a character I immediately loved. Jameson a firefighter (at the same precinct that Keiran from Dare to Try series recently left) who prefers to keep himself to himself and not make friends or have relationships is taciturn in his nature towards everyone.

After a series of unrelated surprise meetings, you might say serendipitous, these two end up becoming flatmates. Ryan and Jameson are very opposite kinds of characters and come from very different backgrounds, something which Jameson tries to use to keep himself separate from Ryan. Jameson has had a tough life and is dealing with past trauma and a sister who is off the rails. I really liked seeing Jameson open up to Ryan, and I enjoyed seeing his surprise as he saw himself doing this. Their chemistry is off the charts and despite everything, Jameson just can’t seem to stay away from Ryan.

This book as with most of Ella Frank’s books ends in a way that will make you wait impatiently for the next book so that you can see how everything turns out, while not a cliffhanger, it is definitely not wrapped up. Personally, I would prefer longer books where I get the whole story, but since it’s Ella Frank and I know that this is the way her books are set up, I will be hanging out for book #2 in November.

Thanks to the author and SocialButterfly PR for a digital copy of this book in return for an honest review.

BLURB

Ryan

Kind, caring, and protective. Those are the three qualities I’m looking for when it comes to my dream man. In a city as big as Chicago, you wouldn’t think he would be that hard to find, right?

Wrong.

Sure, my boss found a super-sexy detective and my best friend fell madly in love with the most eligible bachelor around. But the only person I’ve met recently is a broody bad boy who saved me at a sketchy pub.

He’s grumpy, rude, and honestly, not that likeable at all. Hardly my “dream” guy.

So why can’t I stop thinking about him?

Jameson

I don’t do friendships. I don’t do relationships either. The very last thing I’m looking for in life is to fall in love and live happily ever after.

So saving some rich guy from losing his wallet is the last thing I want to do on a Friday night. Especially when he looks like someone who just stepped off the cover of GQ

Fate seems to have other ideas, though, and every time I turn around, he’s there.

A wicked heat simmers between us, threatening to ignite, and though I’ve been trained to put out the flames, I can’t help but think: What’s the worst that could happen if I let this desire burn out of control?
